We have recently acquired a Stratasys FDM printer capable of generating ABS plastic patterns for prototyping purposes. The printer has been spitting out patterns for 5 wks now and I can safely say it’s the best investment we’ve made in years. Basically, we’re using these ABS positives instead of production waxes from aluminum dies so our customers can prove out their designs or meet their short-run production requirements. So far, we’re thrilled with both the casting results and the fact that we can turn parts inside of a week’s time.
